Living in Grand Prairie Texas | DALLAS TEXAS SUBURB TOUR of Grand Prairie

Hey guys – Levi here. Have you thought about moving to Grand Prairie, Texas? If you haven’t it’s one of those Dallas suburbs that you really need to consider, because not only is it one of the most affordable suburbs to move to, but it’s also full of tons of great places to eat and explore.

LOCATION OF GRAND PRAIRIE

First of all, let’s talk about location. Grand Prairie is located between Arlington and Dallas – right smack in the middle. It’s close to the lake, and it’s right off of I-20, so you’re close to lots of things to do, and it’s easy to get to and from Grand Prairie via the freeway. The median income is about $67,000, and the median home price here is $162,00. The median rent is about $1100. Overall, Grand Prairie is centrally located and just an overall great spot to be on the map in terms of traveling back and forth from some of the bigger surrounding cities and suburbs.

WHAT TO DO IN GRAND PRAIRIE

Next, what is Grand Prairie known for? First off, you have Lone Start Park, which is an awesome horse racing event arena. It’s got a cool vibe and is a very cool place to visit, especially if you’re into horse racing in general.

Also, if you’re in the area, you have to check out Trader’s Village. It’s the biggest flea market in all of Texas – over 100 acres in size – and when I say you can get anything there, I mean anything! When I got my first car when I was 18, I got some sweet gold rims for my old Ford Tempo there. It really has everything. The food there is awesome as well! One of the things a lot of people talk about is in the giant turkey legs that you can get there, and those are really awesome. But overall, just a really cool flea market with anything and everything you could be looking for. It makes for a great outing!

Next, The Prairie Lights are something you simply cannot miss when you come out here to Grand Prairie. The Prairie Lights are a 2-mile-long drive-through Christmas light display that happens every year here in town, and it is truly amazing to see. That’s one of those fun seasonal activities that is really unique to this city.

There’s also a minor league baseball team out here call the “Airhogs.” They play out at the Texas Stadium in Arlington, and let’s be honest… nothing hits quite like a great day at the ball field, right? You’ve definitely got to check that out if you’re in the area, especially if you’re considering moving here.

We also can’t leave out the Uptown Theater. That’s a venue for concerts and shows and performances. It was restored a few years back, and it brings that Grand Prairie character to life when you attend a show there. That’s a must-see!

The kids will love this one! Epic Waters is an incredible indoor water park that is absolutely MASSIVE. They’ve got something for everyone there, even when the weather is cold, so you’ve definitely got to check it out here in Grand Prairie.

HOUSE #1

So let’s talk about the homes here. First, let’s talk about the first home we talk about in this video. It’s a 5 bed, 5 bath, and 4400 square, and it’s only $499,000. That puts the price per square foot at just $115 – crazy! If you’re coming from New York or California, you’re probably used to more like $1,000 per square foot, so this really is an incredible find. It’s in a super quiet neighborhood and it has tons of mature trees and just overall great landscaping. It’s also in a gated community that is super quiet, and it’s in a cul-de-sac, so it’s private and perfect for a family. It was built in 2004, so it’s still under 20 years old! It will likely be pretty energy efficient because of all of the shade that the trees provide the homes around here, so really, this is a great home that would be an amazing choice for you if you were looking to move to this area. You’re getting a bargain, and you’re getting a ton of house as well.

This home is also close to two lakes – Joe Pool Lake and Mountain Creek Lake. There’s lots of stuff to do around those lakes, like hiking and biking, in addition to classic lake activities like fishing, boating, and swimming, so this home is in a great location.

HOUSE #2

Now that we’ve seen a house in the $400,000-$500,000 range, let’s talk about our next home. It’s located close to Downtown Grand Prairie, and it’s a 4 bedroom, 3 ½ bath with about 2500 square feet. It sits at $330,000, which puts the price per square foot at just $132 per square foot, so still just a great price, and it’s located in a really convenient spot in town.

Overall, Grand Prairie is a great spot to be – extremely affordable.
